Prefers rich, well-drained soil and plenty of water. Grows best in cool weather. In spring, start indoors six weeks before last frost and transplant two weeks before last frost. In fall, direct sow 2″ apart and thin to final spacing two months before first frost.

Harvest only the young leaves at the top of the plant. This will stimulate the plant to produce more leaves for continual harvest.
