Sweet peas perform best when sown directly in the garden. Nick the seed coat and soak in warm water 24 hours before planting to encourage germination. Plant outdoors in early spring as soon as the soil can be worked. Prefers rich, well-amended, well-drained soil and full sun, and will appreciate afternoon shade on hot days.
Snip faded blossoms regularly and remove seed pods to encourage more blooms.
