Plant outdoors in early spring in a location with full sun to part shade and average, well-drained soil. Start indoors three to four weeks earlier for transplants. Keep soil evenly moist while plants are young. In mild climates, sow in fall for winter bloom.
Cut plant back by one half when initial blossoms fade to encourage another set of flowers.
