Select a sunny site with moderately rich soil. Where temperatures dip below 0°F, mulch well before the ground freezes. Tarragon does best in areas where it does have a period of winter dormancy. Established plants may be pruned to fit the confines of your herbal garden.
Harvest should occur in late July. Tarragon leaves, like basil bruise easily. Handle with care during the harvest and drying process. Russian Tarragon produces hardy plants which make a great addition to any herbaceous border.
